![]() If I was bit farther in my project I'd be using LDAP. I am sort of in a rush (and a noob), so I just:īad habit from my Windoze days (just reinstall). I think the update to secure only version on 9/24 did it. I last successfully logged in on 9/22, where I setup updates in CRON. I am now receiving the same error, but don't use LDAP. Posted: Wed 2:25 pm Post subject: Re: webmin nf pam=webmin not working I am writing from memory so I cannot remember the error correctly but it boils down to saying authentication failed.Ħ) In desperation I the local root login password but that didnt work either. I added a line pam=webmin to the file as well.ĥ) When I login now I dont get the reference in the log files for pam_unix but I still cant login. etc/pam.d/webmin and miniserv files.Ĥ) I looked at the nf file and see that there is a reference to password being stored in /etc/shadow. These files for some reason did not reference system-auth file but had references to pam_unix.ģ) In the log file /var/log/messages I can see webmin trying to authenticate using pam_unix. namely /etc/pam.d/webmin and /etc/pam.d/miniserv. I found two that seemed to be of interest. At lest system-auth files are and login and xdm refer to the system-auth file.Ģ) There has been a major update to pam modules recently. What I have gathered is the following.ġ) I use ldap for authentication and pam is setup to authenticate against ldap. I dont access webmin a lot so cannot recall if there has been a webmin update since last it worked. ![]() I used to be able to login to webmin but now I cant.
